LUMINARI | Jewelry Brand
About the role:
As a Jewelry Designer at LUMINARI, you’ll be responsible for bringing our design vision to life — from initial concept through development and final production.
This role calls for a strong creative point of view, technical fluency in fine jewelry construction, commercial awareness, and a strong understanding of contemporary jewelry and design. You’ll translate creative direction into pieces that feel modern and distinctly LUMINARI, while considering proportion, wearability, craftsmanship, production feasibility, and commercial potential.
We’re looking for a designer who doesn’t simply execute a brief, but brings ideas, judgment, curiosity, and problem-solving to the design process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of new jewelry across rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, from initial concept and sketch through prototyping and final production
- Create detailed hand sketches, CAD designs, technical drawings, and specifications ready for development and production
- Translate creative direction and product briefs into designs that feel distinctly LUMINARI
- Develop designs that balance creativity, proportion, wearability, craftsmanship, and production feasibility
- Design with commercial and cost awareness, making informed decisions around metal weight, carat weight, stone selection, construction, and production methods to meet target price points
- Use customer insights, sales performance, and market opportunities to inform new products and evolve existing designs
- Stay closely connected to international jewelry, fashion, design, and cultural trends, translating relevant shifts in silhouettes, proportions, materials, and styling into opportunities for LUMINARI
- Conduct competitor and market research to identify emerging categories, design opportunities, and gaps within our assortment
- Collaborate directly with factories, production teams, and gem suppliers to prototype, test, troubleshoot, and refine designs
- Critically review prototypes and production samples, refining proportion, stone placement, settings, comfort, finishing, and construction until the final piece meets LUMINARI’s standards
- Explore new techniques, settings, materials, and construction methods through ongoing research and development
- Maintain accurate design documentation, including spec sheets, CAD files, stone specifications, measurements, and technical details
- Work closely with Marketing on product launches and collection storytelling, helping communicate the design thinking behind each piece
Qualifications:
- Degree in Jewelry Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
- 5+ years of jewelry design experience, preferably within fine jewelry or luxury brands; candidates with 3–5 years and particularly strong fine jewelry or bridal experience will also be considered
- Strong portfolio demonstrating original thinking, technical capability, and completed pieces or collections with a contemporary point of view
- Proficiency in MatrixGold, Rhino, or equivalent CAD software
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong understanding of fine jewelry construction, stone settings, gemstones, precious metals, manufacturing processes, and production limitations
- Strong understanding of proportion, scale, comfort, durability, and wearability in fine jewelry
- Strong design judgment and confidence to question, refine, and improve a brief when there is a stronger creative or technical solution
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how design decisions affect cost, pricing, production, and customer appeal
- Genuine interest in international jewelry, fashion, design, and contemporary culture
- Fluent in Thai with a good command of English, with the ability to research international references and communicate effectively with both local and international suppliers
- Comfortable working independently, taking ownership of projects, and managing multiple designs through different stages of development
- Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate creative and technical feedback clearly
- Experience working directly with factories, suppliers, or international manufacturers is an advantage
Portfolio:
Please include a portfolio demonstrating both your creative and technical capabilities.
We would especially like to see:
- Original jewelry concepts and sketches
- CAD development
- Finished pieces alongside the original design
- Bridal and fine jewelry
- Examples demonstrating your understanding of construction and proportion
- Products or collections you personally developed from concept through production
- For selected projects, please briefly explain your role, the design objective, key technical considerations, and how the final piece evolved from the original concept.
