Founded in Brooklyn in 2016 by Philip Huang and Chomwan Weeraworawit, Philip Huang creates modern clothing rooted in indigenous knowledge passed down through generations of artisans in Northeast Thailand. Working closely with artisan communities, the brand uses plant based regenerative dyes, organic fibers, and handmade textiles to produce thoughtful, versatile pieces for today and the future.

As we continue to grow and systemize our development process, we are seeking a Junior Technical Designer and Development Coordinator to support the translation of creative ideas into well structured, production ready garments.

Role Overview:
The Junior Technical Designer supports the development of collections from concept to final sample and garment. This role works closely with the Design Director, pattern makers, and production partners to ensure garments are accurately developed, documented, and executed according to brand and production standards.

This is an execution focused role centered on technical accuracy, documentation, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Design and Sampling
    • Create and update tech packs with measurements, construction, and finishing details.
    • Prepare technical flats and drawings using Adobe Illustrator.
    • Measure garments during fittings and clearly document revisions.
    • Track sampling changes and ensure corrections are implemented.
    • Ensure samples meet brand standards and production requirements.
  • Studio Organization
    • Organize and maintain fabric swatches, trims, and sample libraries.
    • Categorize materials by composition, weight, dye method, and season.
    • Document fabric testing including shrinkage and wash results.
    • Maintain clear digital and physical archives for samples and materials.
  • Development Support
    • Track development timelines and sampling milestones.
    • Coordinate fabric and trim requirements with production partners.
    • Maintain accurate documentation for each collection.
    • Support costing and production planning with reliable data.
    • Help improve development workflows and systems as the studio grows.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years experience in technical design or fashion development.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and measurement.
  • Experience creating tech packs.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Highly detail oriented and organized.
  • Comfortable working in a small team with evolving systems.
  • Enthusiastic about the garment development process.
  • Fluent in Thai and English.
