Position Summary:
The Fashion Designer is responsible for creating designs that reflects the brands identity whilst ensuring each garment meets the highest standards of creativity, fit, quality, and craftsmanship throughout the product development process. Ready and capable to work on large span of projects, comfortable working with delicate fabrics, problem solving c technical, creative and adaptable
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Collection Development
- Research global fashion trends, runway collections, vintage references, and market competitors.
- Develop seasonal concepts, mood boards, color palettes, and fabric direction.
- Design original collections aligned with the Cherie brand identity.
- Create detailed fashion sketches using Adobe Illustrator and/or CAD.
- Present design concepts and collection ideas to the Founder.
- Product Development
- Select fabrics, trims, lace, buttons, and accessories.
- Develop detailed technical drawings and tech packs.
- Work closely with pattern makers and sample makers.
- Review prototypes and recommend improvements.
- Ensure garments meet quality, fit, and construction standards.
- Fit & Sampling
- Lead fit sessions.
- Identify fit issues and provide technical solutions.
- Approve samples before production.
- Maintain consistency in sizing across collections.
- Trend & Market Research
- Research emerging fabrics, silhouettes, and trims.
- Recommend improvements based on sales data.Brand Consistency
- Maintain Cherieβs signature feminine and romantic aesthetic.
- Ensure every collection aligns with Cherie.
- Contribute ideas for future categories including bridal, swimwear, and accessories.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Founder
- Production Manager
- Marketing Team
- Social Media Team
- Pattern Makers
- External Manufacturers
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- Minimum 3β5 years of experience in womenswear design.
- Strong understanding of garment construction and pattern making.
- Experience designing dresses, corsetry, bridal, or occasionwear preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience creating professional tech packs.
- Excellent knowledge of fabrics and textile properties.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple collections simultaneously.
