Oliver James Lilos | Upholstered Brand
At Oliver James Lilos, we create sanctuaries for rest, play, and connection. We make in-water furniture that serves as a centerpiece for the shared moments that gather around the pool. We believe authentic moments of rest, play, and connection are sacred and worthy of care and a deliberate design process.
Our team is based in Bangkok, with our office temporarily located in Phra Khanong.
The role:
We’re hiring a Junior Product Designer to join our small studio. This is a hybrid generalist role with a core in product design – Rhino surface modeling, technical drawings, BOMs, and design-for-manufacturing – supported by visual design, supplier coordination, and project organization.
You’ll begin with close mentorship from our Customer Experience Lead, who oversees both digital and physical experience and has an industrial design background. As you grow into the role, there is a clear path to take on more ownership and initiative, with the opportunity to grow into a Design Lead position over time.
Why this role:
You’ll see your drawings come off the cutting table at our suppliers, learn how problems get solved on the factory floor, and build real relationships with the people who make our products. You’ll work across the full arc of product development – concept, CAD, sourcing, sampling, and production – at a small studio where the work is hands-on and the feedback loop is short. It’s an unusual amount of exposure for a junior role, and uncommon in Thailand, where product roles tend to sit narrowly inside either design or engineering. This is a chance to do hands-on product work in a small, internationally-minded team.
Who you are:
- You bring care, curiosity, and humility to your work and to the people you work with
- You are organized and reliable – your files, drawings, and projects stay in order, and your handoffs can be trusted
- You communicate clearly in English; Thai is a strong plus for working with local suppliers and team members
- You are eligible to work in Thailand, or willing to relocate
What you’ll do:
- Drawing & Documentation (core)
- 3D surface modeling in Rhino 3D
- Prepare supplier-ready technical 2D drawings
- Build and maintain Bills of Materials – parts, subassemblies, and materials
- Update drawings and specifications based on team feedback
- Design Development
- Design for manufacturing alongside our suppliers
- Materials sourcing, sampling, and review
- Define product requirements and quality guidelines
- Build a working knowledge of materials, processes, and product details
- Design Support
- Prepare graphics, layouts, and presentation decks
- Develop concepts under direction from the Customer Experience Lead
- Build moodboards and CMF (Color, Material, Finish) references
- Internal Coordination
- Collaborate with suppliers, procurement, and our customer experience team
- Help organize and run projects day to day
- Support light administrative tasks tied to active projects
Skills & Qualifications:
We don’t expect anyone to fit 100%. Many of the skills here can here can be learned on the job – if the core fits and the attitude is right, we’d love to hear from you.
