Job Overview:
The Technical Product Developer leads the transformation of creative ideas into high-quality, production-ready jewelry and accessories. This role ensures every product is technically feasible, durable, scalable, and aligned with design intent.
Acting as the bridge between Creative and Sourcing/Production teams, this role owns the technical development process, improves product quality, and helps build a more structured and scalable product system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Ownership of Product Development
- Evaluate all designs for feasibility, durability, and manufacturability
- Identify structural risks (e.g., weak joints, stone-setting issues, clasp failures)
- Propose design improvements that preserve aesthetics while enhancing performance
- Act as the technical gatekeeper before products move to sampling
- Sample Development & Iteration Management
- Lead end-to-end sample development: Concept β Prototype β Final Approval
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve technical challenges and refine execution
- Reduce sample rounds and shorten development timelines through stronger upfront technical decisions
- Factory & Technical Communication
- Develop clear technical specifications and tech packs (dimensions, materials, finishing, construction details)
- Communicate directly with factories to ensure accurate and consistent execution
- Troubleshoot technical issues during sampling and production and implement practical solutions
- Quality Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Define and uphold product quality benchmarks (finishing, durability, wearability)
- Approve golden samples prior to bulk production
- Analyze defect data and implement root cause improvements
- Partner with the QC team to establish and refine inspection standards
- Product Information Ownership & Cross-functional Alignment
- Own and maintain the Product Detail Sheet for all products
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of product information across all business units
- Define and standardize product information structure:
- Technical specifications
- Materials
- Functionality
- Usage
- Limitations
- Act as the single source of truth for product data
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align product information while ensuring technical accuracy
- Product Innovation & Technique Development
- Research and introduce new materials, construction methods, and production techniques to enhance product quality and uniqueness
- Collaborate with the Creative team to translate technical innovation into design opportunities
- Continuously explore industry advancements to keep YVIS competitive and differentiated
- Work with suppliers to test and implement new manufacturing processes and technical solutions
- Build and maintain an internal knowledge base of materials, techniques, and best practices
Qualifications:
- 2β4+ years of experience in jewelry product development, technical design, or related fields
- Strong knowledge of jewelry construction, materials, plating, and manufacturing processes
- Hands-on experience working with factories and managing sample development
- Proven ability to identify and solve technical product issues
- Experience with CAD or the ability to interpret technical drawings is a plus
- Detail-oriented, highly structured, and solution-driven
